In 1979 I bought this guitar for 400 UK Pounds. At the time, there was a newer one for 300 Pounds, though chose this one which was then black and really nice. A few years later, having worn out quite a few brain cells, I totally ruined this beautiful black tele by sand-papering it down. Stuck my history, family, Beatles, Elton and friends ...even stuck pictures over the scratch plate which is now gone, as it looked too ridiculous and replaced it with this white one. Thank you to my dear friend Dennis Calkins in Los Angeles who stored this guitar for me for 10 years. We still have this to show. The guitar can still be seen in it's original form in many Bay City Roller pictures (and even on the face of the guitar itself). Foolishly I sanded the name off it as well (on the head), but it still plays wonderfully, and if the neck is removed you'll see it's a 1966. |
